Escape

(2020-2022)

In some ways, this collection of work is my own minor response towards the pandemic of 2020. Due to the pandemic, we were all kept inside for extended amounts of time. A lot of people just wanted to get away and start anew. Escape is about rediscovering that sense of adventure again.

With a range of landscapes, we are presented with new worlds that appear out of them like windows and doorways. 20th Century Surrealism plays a big factor due to its freedom of creativity and hopefully these worlds that we see reignite that sense of curiosity about what lies out in the new world.

The open spaces were the more logical subject matter instead of the urban landscape simply to give the impression of a new world. It’s a mystery whether or not these worlds are liveable. However, that same sense of mystery leads to a calling for adventure. Recreating that sense of wonder and curiosity in these trying times is something we all need to lift our spirits.
